Wellness Committee 2024 report
Wellness Committee
The Kalida Local Schools Wellness Committee met on November 7, 2024, to discuss the district wellness plan. The agenda centered on discussions of our nutritional education, physical activities, student and staff wellness promotions, and a focus on mental health issues. Our Cafeteria Director, Mrs. Neidert, discussed the continued success of healthy menu items and providing choices for students during lunch. Our cafeteria operates separately from the general school budget and must be self-sufficient, including kitchen payroll and purchasing equipment and all food items. Student lunch counts continue to be great.
Physical health programming at Kalida continues to expand, both for students and staff. Employees were offered discounted rates with a health partner, Uptown fitness. A steps contest in the spring was discussed. We are always trying to initiate classroom activities that stimulate activity and enhance learning. Student liaisons felt the district does a good job of addressing mental health issues and providing resources.
