Elementary Library Guidelines
High School Library Guidelines
In library use only--Reference materials such as encyclopedias,
dictionaries, special reference books, as well as reserved books, are to be used
only in the library.
Kindergarten & Grade 1--All material borrowed from the library must be checked
out and returned at the circulation desk. Up to two books may be checked out by a
student for a period of one week and may be renewed one time unless it is RESERVED.
Magazines may be checked out for one week and renewed one time.
Grade 2-6-- All material borrowed from the library must be checked out and returned
at the circulation desk. Up to three books may be checked out by a student for a
period of two weeks and may be renewed one time unless it is RESERVED. Magazines
may be checked out for one week and renewed one time.
Fines policy--Books/library materials are to be returned by the end of the day they
are due. A fine is charged for each book or library material kept overtime. This
fine is five cents per day per book. No library materials will be issued to or renewed
for any person incurring a fine until the fine is paid.
Each borrower is held responsible for all library materials drawn on his/her name.
Injury to library materials beyond reasonable wear and all losses shall be paid by
the borrower. Excessive abuse/loss of materials may result in a restriction of library
privileges as designated by the librarian.
High School Library Guidelines
The library is a place for doing research, casual reading, working
on projects requiring research, or using the computers for research or classroom
assignments.
6. Accelerated Reader quizzes: Students must inform one of the adult librarians they want to take an AR quiz before logging on to the computer. 7. High School students (grades 9-12) may checkout laptops and flash drives overnight from the library. A student must return the signed "Request for home use form" and complete an orientation with Mrs. Scherer at least 48 hours in advance of taking the laptop and flash drive home. Reservations for laptop usage must be made with one of the adult librarians by the end of Period 7.
8. Students in grades 6-12 may check out iPod Nanos with audiobooks from the library. Students and parents must read and sign the iPod Nano agreement form and students must complete an orientation with Mrs. Scherer on iPod use and care. iPod Nanos/audiobooks are to be requested at least one day in advance of check out. The borrowing period for iPods is a maximum of two weeks. At the end of two weeks, the iPods must be returned for charging and then may be borrowed for another two weeks.
1. Student library patrons--please show your signed passbook to the person at the circulation
desk upon entering the library. High school students are expected to remain in the library during the entire period unless they have received permission from the librarian to leave the room. Only one student will be permitted to leave the library at a time. No food or drink (including water) is allowed in the library or Dell lab.
2. All material borrowed from the library must be checked out and returned at the circulation desk. Reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, and special reference books, as well as current magazines, reserve books, and software are to be used only in the library. All other books may be borrowed for a period of four weeks with no renewal unless it is RESERVED. Noncurrent magazines may be borrowed for one week.
3. The fine for an overdue library book, periodical, reserved item, or any other library material is five cents per day per item. No library materials will be issued to or renewed for any person incurring a fine until the fine is paid. If a book and/or fine money is still overdue at the end of a 9-weeks period, then the student's grade card will be withheld.

5. If a student misuses the library, the librarian has the option to deny privileges for a certain period of time.
